Hair Dye FAQ

Hair Dye FAQ

When dying hair something like red or green ect. the lighter color your hair is the better. The Best stuff in my experience is just any kind of hair dye from safeway that says "bleach blonde".

bleach blonde kit price: $10.00-$20.00. That may seem a little expensive but no matter what kind of hair dye you use if your hair is not blonde it's not going to go that color.

hair dyes. which is the best? which is cheapest? Well in MY experience the best stuff is "directions" hair dye. I was paying 13 bucks for about 2 weeks of colored hair. i also tryed manic panic and punky colors which both did not work very well. those were around 13 dollars. the cheapest, and thus most efficient dye i know of is infact not even har dye. its BINGO DABBERS. Wild colors, pretty good lasting effect, and only 1 buck from a dollar store or zellers.

The way i have always put my dye in is with my hands. You may whant to wear gloves unless you like having blue or green hands for a day or so.
hair dye coming out to fast for you to keep up? try mixing some dye in with your shampoo.

ALL THE DYE MENTIONED ABOVE WILL STAIN SHOWERS, TUBS AND HANDS.

stick your hair up!

I think the most frequently asked question is "what is the best way to put up your hair?". To this question there are ENDLESS solutions. Lets go though SOME. mine: i use hairspray mostly. easy to get out, and its cheap if you get the right stuff!. The kind i use is called "suave mega hold hairspray number 10" - BLACK BOTTLE, NOT THE BLUE. the blue one sucks. believe it or not i pay only 1 dollar per can of this stuff. it can hold up to 2 days of hard mosh and messing around without fixing. but i usually wash it out at night because its really annoying to sleep on.

These are some of my hawks done up with suave.

Suave is a good product for 7 maybe 8 inch and under spikes, hawks ect. but for the real big ones like my friend shawn lopes (14 inch) you need something a little stronger... which means more expensive (if we are still talkin hairspray. we'll get to other stuff later) Shawn uses something called "got to be glued". This stuff is stonge! it holds up his 14 incher for three days!.

In my opinion, Aerosal cans are much better. allot easier to spray it all over your head.

some other good substances for your hair (good not great) are things like egg whites (no yolk), sugar water, and soap. soap often leaves behind little white clumps in your hair so i dont use it. These thing however are all real cheap incase your short on cash.

Now to the hardcore stuff. Let me just say that these things are very, VERY hard to get out.Number one: Knox gelatin. yes thats right the jello stuff. depending on how "potent" you make the batch it could hold up to a week!! ( maybe more we never made it that thick). For this you just buy the knox, and mix however many packs into the water. i recomend two to start off with, and go as high as you wish. REMEMBER TO USE HOT WATER. Apply it to your hair, hold up and dry with a hair dryer just like hairspray. NUMBER TWO. Remeber in grade school when you would do all sorts of crafts with white glue? well now you can do more than glitter pictures. white hair glue is a really good product for hair. cheap, and effective. NUMBER THREE. I do not recomend this unless you wish to have your hair up for a REALLY long time. elmers wood glue. Put it in just like the other glue, and knox and stuff. but this will keep your hair up for WEEKS. yes. weeks.. with an s.

I would just like to point out that we punks are not going weeks and days without showers. it stays up that long but you gotta keep it from getting wet. i use safeway bags or garbage bags wile in the shower..

Some things friends told me about that i have not tryed, or seen up. that means if it doesnt work or screws ur hair it aint my problem. GLUE STICKS.(the kind you use in glue guns) just rub the stick on your hair.

USE OR DO ANY OF THESE THINGS AT YOUR OWN RISK

PUNK/PIMP JACKET

The question i get asked most when in public is "where on earth did you get that jacket". Some call it just a jacket, some other things, but i just refer to my vest and jacket as my punk jacket (it makes me sound kinda like a posser but its easier than saying my painted, spiked jacket). More than anything your jacket should tell a story. The phases you went through, when and where you got this thing put on. My vest has a patch signed by the casualties from when i met them, i rip on the side i never patched up because it was at the dropkick murphys show. Stuff like that. Allot of people ask me where i get the spikes put in, but its a do it yourself job. the jacket should be. i buy my spikes from this place where they sell them for dog collars, the ones on my vest were off a 10 buck belt.

Painting it up!

depending on what your painting onto u should use either stain, or acrylic paint. if its leather, or leathery material then you use acrylic paint. for fabrics you should use stain for white, then acrylic paint colors overtop of it. whichever you are using it with you should put acrylic paint sealer overtop.

designs!. the best way to put a design on your jacket, or patch (in my expirience) is to print if off, or draw it on some paper. cut it out really nice then use it as a stencil WILE BIENG VERY CAREFUL. Im not going to lie to you sometimes you will screw it up, but with practice you will get better.

For paints, sealers, brushes u can get them from craft stores and stuff but for stain you will have to go to a hardware or professional paint store. STAIN IS CALLED STAIN BECAUSE IT WILL. WILL. STAIN ANYTHING IT TOUCHES.
